Maths is a language

On this page I shall keep all my resources for teaching maths as a language.

From experience I can only confirm what so many other people have already said - mathematics is a language. You must learn the new words, comprehend and speak fluently. Some of my students have a maths dictionary, either on the back of their books or school planners, or as a ceparate A5 book. That is not only for a quick reference of the terms or formulas, but mostly to make them write and re-read their own writing of the terms.
